A Silent Cry

poem by: Cecilia Crasto
Written on Jul 06, 2016

Alone and in pain she whispered your name
Help me dear Jesus but no one came
Robbed of her innocence a child in despair
Crying out in vain for someone to care.

They did what they did because they could
Evil men cloaked in the guise of priesthood
They told her that she was the one to blame
A young child made to feel guilt and shame.

Choosing their victims the young and the weak
Like the lion sets out the deer to seek
She can't move forward she's trapped in her past
She'll carry the pain till she breathes her last.

Seek out the men who caused her this grief
Bring them to justice as you would a thief
This heinous crime must continue no more
The evil that lurks behind a closed door.

A baby bird flutters and falls from it's nest
Beneath the tree a cat lies at rest
Predators and victims there will always be
Like the wee bird she fell from the tree!

A tribute to all the young people who have suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of the clergy.

Very power full words to your poem. True there are those who use there position for there own gains. They I'll not escape justice from God.Well written.

Beautiful and full of pain. It's not easy to rhyme and keep the feelings there, the right word is important, but this was done well. Coupled with a true "Evil" that lurks in this dark world.
Geoffrey Brewer commented:
Extraordinary poem clearly and powerfully exposing an evil. It is shocking that wicket people have been able to penetrate all of the major religions of the world, but seems to be a pattern in human life.

It is really a brilliant piece of work. So simple and beautiful. The heading is captivating. Overall it is lovely.

Thanks to everyone who commented, this poem was read two years ago on a radio station in Sydney and the announcer said that he felt my pain but,no it wasn't my pain, if I'd been a victim I don't think I could have written about it. Many are still embarrassed to speak up and I hope they know that we feel their pain, if that is possible!

Wow! Such a violation by those who use god as a mask to practice their deviant behavior. So sad. Very good poem
