Manners Aren't Just For Friends

"He's not my friend, I don't have to say thanks
He's a big bully, always playing pranks"

To that young man, I said:
"Manners. Manners are not just for friends.
You may hold the door for someone you don't even know. Let me tell you something else now:

"Once upon a time, someone upset me.
Still, I was kind.
She requested assistance and I gave it to her.
I helped her in any way I could find.
I could have been vengeful; I could have been cruel.
But do you know what- I never even thought about it.
Even though she had wronged me, I strove to do only what was right.
And through my actions, show others the light.

 "This is how all things should be:
There should be forgiveness;
There should be kindness;
There should be hope and truth.
These all do exist, but they are subdued.

"Just remember, young friend, all of these things are for everyone, not just for our friends."
