Replacement

poem by: Keelan
Written on Jan 13, 2018

The pool slowly drains
The spice jar empties
The fire dies out
The battery drains
The song ends
The pills run out
The flower withers
The string breaks

Pour some water
Buy some thyme
Replace the batteries
Play the next song
Pick up the next prescription
Plant a new flower
Obtain another string

It’s easy to replace things,
But I don’t know what to get to replace the emptiness in me.
