A prayer for Christmas

poem by: Allan P Stevens
Written on Nov 20, 2017

-
We are gathered here in happy accord
To say a prayer and give thanks to our lord
For those who have passed to the other side
Let’s remember them all at Christmas time
-
To those in turmoil and heavy of heart
We pray for them to remain free from harm
The lost ones who do not follow your light
Show them your love at Christmas time
-
To the victims of war all across this Earth
Those in peril, which they do not deserve
Give them hope, your helping hand to guide
Peace and good will at Christmas time
-
Teach us the way to follow your path
Teach us to love all with an open heart
Help us to atone for our sins in this life
Bring us all together at Christmas time
-
We are but mortal and will pass over one day
To stand at the foot of your great golden gates
That day of judgement shall come to us all
When good shall triumph and evil shall fall
-

-
(I really must confess, I am not at all religious, I wrote it because I can)
