Sunrise sonnet

poem by: Eli Stovall
Written on Nov 14, 2017

In the early morn padding down the pier

Looking o’er familiar sands and wake

On island pure and in mans heart held dear

The view beheld in eye was one to take

Rising was the sun on horizon vast

With arrays of hues brilliant and bright

Light illuminating my afore path

Greeting new day farewell to sacred night

Shadows chased away from places in dark

Luminescence ushering a new dawn

Single lines of footprints on beach did mark

nature again began its joyus song

The breath of the ocean made morning air chill

Cept for whispering breeze all things were still

Love your imagery in this sonnet. It describes a picture I was looking at yesterday with the sun rising over the ocean and the footprints in the sand. I love sunrises and sunsets... my favorite times of the day. Janet
