The Hourglass

poem by: Theresa Taylor
Written on Sep 21, 2017

I had you last night.
You were right... here!
In front of my eyes and in my arms.
But I didn't see the last grains of sand slipping into the bottom of the hourglass.
Time was stealing you away from me.
And I choked.
I knew what I wanted to tell you,
what you needed to hear.
But I choked!
How suddenly you left me on this Earth,
mortal and alone,
in love with your ghost.

It is sad we cannot say. What we wish on a given day. Then opportunity just slips away. And thus ourselves betray. Thank you kindly for your thoughts
