Rich man's world.

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Jul 05, 2017

We are living in a world of plenty
Where lives are governed by gold
Living with the rich and wealthy
Who are sheltered from the cold.

There are artificial smiles
When our dreams reach for the sky's
Those smiles take a turning
When our dreams all fade and die.

We are liked for what we have gained
But never for what we have lost
They love us when we are successful
But when we fail there is a cost

We are running in a Sprint of chances
Where top men lay the bait
They are looking for a champion
In this winner loser race.

So living in this world of plenty
We can also be filled with doubt
For we are in a world that's empty
When our riches have all run out.

It certainly is a rich mans world.....but to be the richest doesn't necessarily mean you are the happiest......I would rather be the happiest.....good poem Chris...

Thank you Frank I agree.
Cecilia Crasto commented:
Christopher there will always be that divide between the rich and the poor as you have so clearly summed up in this very well written poem, but the best things in life are free and I would rather be happy and healthy any day...well done.
