I'll Cry Instead....

"Daddy you left me! there was nothing I could do,
too young to know the truth, but I was so angry with you.
Mummy you left me! But it wasn't your fault,
he said that he never seen you, sadly his car didn't halt.
Auntie you loved me, but you just couldn't understand,
why I dressed the way I did, and why I sang in a rock'n' roll band.
The days in the Cavern, and Hamburg....The Beatles, the best time of my life,
...all the girls, and the constant screaming! but Shh...don't tell the wife.
Later they nearly crucified me, but Christ, I only wanted some peace,
governments, they vilified me, the torment just never did cease.
Yoko I always loved you! We were like two Guru's in fact.
Nobody could truly understand us, together we made our love pact,
and no, I never seen it coming, as we pulled up by Central Park,
no I never heard a sound, as he emerged from out of the dark.
I had so much more life to live, so much more music to create, and give,
so many words I just never said, I imagine that we will all meet some day in heaven,
so until then, I'll cry instead."

Another of your heartfelt poems Frank, you say it like it is. Lennon was a great man and his music lives on in our hearts and minds, I really enjoyed the poem very much.
Frank Hornby . commented:
I meant that poem to "condense" John Lennons life into a minimum amount of words.....I spent my entire teenage years idolising The Beatles, and being Liverpool lads, 'scousers', ...they were extra special to us....John, Paul, George, Ringo.......I'm glad that you 'felt' the emotion.....thanks Cecilia,....and thank you also Ja Ja, for reading my poem....
