Happy Days...

"I lived my early childhood in Toxteth Liverpool 8,
my memories are still so vivid, here's a few I'd like to relate.
I lived with my Auntie Marie, just off Lodge Lane in Liffey Street,
a scruffy little ragamuffin, with worn out shoes on my feet.
My Auntie had given my mum a "Roof," to rest her troubled head,
I can remember me, and my three cousins, all sleeping in one little bed.
In the winter when the temperature did drop, with no extra blankets to be found,
old coats were thrown on top of us, (the warmest "duvets" around,")
and in front of a blazing coal fire, us cousins shared an old tin bath,
our Joyce, and Margi would go first, then it was me, and our David's turn,
to splash, and have a laugh.
We all played outside our forever open front door, so many different games, up, and down our street, the only time that we ever came in, was to snatch a bite to eat.
Ha, Ha, we didn't have "a pot to piss in," (sorry, yes we did)...it was there, hidden just under the bed!....But all those memories are happy ones, they will forever remain in my old head."
