Midnight Poet

poem by: Dan Miltz
Written on Jan 29, 2017

Writing in pitch-dark pitchy, I begin
Upon the daily stroke of silent pen
Touches my words, across the nightly sky
My inner self meets spirit'd lullaby

A silent space, is a nice lonely place
O' where an altar sits in poet grace
Nightly sweats; pearls of a sweetly verse hone
Cradle, nurture in golly forest home

A cool-headed owl, calls a goodnight hoot
Vista of dark sh'dows, across woods salute
While scribbling, lyrical, in darkness peep
Poetic drift, rushing past, looking deep

Me, writer lickety in night-time dew
Shedding a sleep, dust to the dusky view
Sound of rhymes, the scripter re-awaketh
Wellspring mot'vation for Midnight Poet
