THE HAUNTING WIND

poem by: Steven Godfrey
Written on Jan 27, 2017

Swirling , howling , eerie blasts
Trees down , power out , much damage amassed
Gusts so strong , it's hard to stand tall
Like a lightweight in with Ali , certain to fall

Will this weather ever abate
It will simply blow through, stay patient and wait
Bringing with it an abundance of rain
Don't go out in that , are you insane !

Off to bed and it's a struggle to sleep
The commotion outside has blown away the sheep
Fences down , bins thrown all around
In next doors garden is where they are found

It is now the morning after the storm
Sun in the sky , pleasant and warm
Mother Nature , no one knows what she has in store
Haunting wind for now , moved on to another shore.
