Christmas Day (a child's view)

Santa comes in the night, he comes in the night, he gently, noiselessly comes,
While the little child's heads on their pillows of white, dream of train sets and dolls and drums,
The sleigh cuts through the snow like a ship through the foam, while the soft flakes around him swirl,
Who tells him their names, I do not know but he finds the home, of each good little boy and girl,

His sleigh is long and deep and wide, it carries all number of things
Dozens of drums hanging over the side with their sticks tucked under their strings,
Not one sound of a drum is heard, not a trumpet blast is blown
As he lands on the chimney stack like a bird, and drops to the hearth like a stone

The hanging red stockings he quietly fills, till the stockings can hold no more
The little toy trains for the little wood tracks are gently set down on the floor
Then Santa floats to the roof like a bird and takes his seat on the sleigh
Not a sound or murmur is heard as he silently gallops away
He travels east and he travels west until his job is done
Christmas Day is wonderful, a day for little ones
