Mummy

poem by: Suzie Lemons

I wonder what it feels
Like to be alive again.
To be able to walk,
To play, to explore and
To smile. I miss smiling.

I wonder how mummy is.
Did she cry? Will she miss me?
I’m sorry mummy, I miss you mummy.

I wonder how it happened,
it was all so fast
I was playing with my brothers and we were running,
ahh,
I really like running, and then it just hit me
right in the face, a ball of smoke. BAM.

It was loud, I fell to the ground, I cried a little.

I couldn’t move, I was stuck,
my legs were being all funny
and wouldn’t move, I was stuck.
Help I cried.
HELP, I yelled.
HEELLPP, I screamed.
My voice hurt a lot that day,
it hurt a lot.

I wonder what it feels
like to be alive again.
To be able to walk,
to play, to explore, and to smile.
I miss smiling.

My mummy made me smile.

I loved this poignant poem, great sadness was how it felt. A child lost?
