The Safe House.

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Nov 02, 2016

I made it across the borderline
The enemy in retreat
I made it to this safe house
Now the enemy in defeat.

Safe at last within
This boundary
A land of peace
Hope and neutrality.

At last at last
No fear of that knock
On the door
Like those days now past.

No more waiting for my fate
No more struggling when I run
No more fear upon my face
No more the target of a gun.

I made it to this safe house
Now I can rest my head
The nightmare now is over
Oh the comfort of a bed.

I feel this . . What it feels like to stop running, from self, and/or the demons that are chasing . Anyway it's a great feeling, just to be able . . to breathe . .

Based on a true story .Once over the borderline different country different laws In other words freedom. But it can also mean what you said running from self ore our demons.Thank you for your comment.
