Nowhere to hide.

A little garden gnome stands upon the soil
Looking to the garden, a path of grey turmoil
The stones scattered along the ground
Wobbling footsteps tripping around
The sky above prepares to thunder
Time to reek this garden under
Children playing run inside
The garden gnome, nowhere to hide

Mucky brown covers his face
Wet drips seem out of place
But no one can see this desolate gnome
Inside they are warm, outside he’s alone
The stones scattered lay still once more
Shattered scrapings of presence lay sore
Worms they gather beyond the light
Musty air paves through the night

A little garden gnome waits upon the soil
Looking to the garden, a path of grey turmoil
He looks to the moon replacing the sun
Now gone its rays have left him undone
Til morning he says, they will play again
Not long, I can wait until then
Red paint chips from his oddly shaped hat
An animal scurries, a large seeming rat

Not long now little gnome, keep still
See beyond the empty room you lay, until
Morning comes and a new day dawns
The children will wake with happy yawns
Your garden will glow and grow very soon
Don’t fret, await, see beauty in the moon
The darkness has hope and hidden treasures
Be still little gnome and enjoy its pleasures

A little garden gnome stands upon the soil
Looking to the garden, a path of grey turmoil
The stones scattered along the ground
Wobbling footsteps tripping around
The sky above prepares to thunder
Time to reek this garden under
Children playing run inside
The garden gnome, nowhere to hide
