The Mirror

It's there
Your life on a plate
About to be fed to fate
All you can do is sit and stare

It's still there
What it is you don't really know
Maybe it's your heart breaking or your decisions screaming back at you like the cries of a disruptive crow
You want to get rid of it, but you wouldn't dare

It's still sitting there
You stare at it and finally realize what it is
You want to stand up to it, but that is definitely a miss
Is this even fair?

It's still there
Taunting you with secrets from your past
Then you muster up enough courage to say, " Not so fast!"
You back down when you realize that it doesn't even really care

It's still there
Then you look closer
Is that what you think it is over there?
You see yourself!

It's still there
Yet it is in pieces
You have broken it
"You have one the war," with its final breath it declares

Wow.

A little cryptic and dark but it reads well. I think many people can relate to it .. Visually effective but the crow line was a great sound effect. It seemed balanced but you simply wanted it to end more positively,.. I suppose this was the aim of the poem however so you would have to say it was successful.
