Happy

poem by: K Alexander
Written on Mar 29, 2016

All our lives we are told to feel happy
All our lives we are sold this idea
Stop right now and think when was the last time you were genuinely happy

No other feelings just happy
I don't know about you but I don't remember
Now don't be sad because that's perfect

It makes us crave it because we're never just happy
We're worried
We're stressed
We're tired
We're a mess
So smile once in awhile and think on this

If we're all fighting to be happy
At least we're not fighting alone

I sooo get your wisdom! I am tired of people telling me I should seek to be happy (all of the time). I tell them I don't need or want to be happy (all of the time), I simply seek contentment; because when I am happy, I truly know the difference; happiness for me, is an unexpected bonus! Thankyou so much for your response it's great that you understand exactly what I meant :)
Emily Armstrong commented:
I think that happiness is one of the most important things in life and as you said, we are never just happy. Emotions are complex and I think it's okay to feel nervous or stressed at the same time as being happy. I definitely think happiness is something to fight for and as you mentioned, we're all fighting for it.

A very well written poem. I think we all should look out for each other More often than we do.
