A Sonnet of Love Induced Hope

poem by: Ernest Areheart
Written on Apr 28, 2015

The colors that are lost to time
Are found in her undying smile
The iris that looks back at me
Finds justice in her abstract style

She pauses, and is coy at heart
Swans covet her flawless grace
Then her lips begin to part
And says one word I can almost taste

She says my name and I melt
My memories pass is a reel
I don't have the years under my belt
To express the way that I feel

But I know it is worthwhile
Because simply, I made her smile
